Director Aashiq Abu’s Virus has hit rough weather even before its release. The film was embroiled in controversy after filmmaker Uday Ananthan moved court accusing the director of copyright infringement. Uday has claimed that he has the right to the title and the story of Virus.

Hearing Uday’s petition, the Ernakulam district court on Thursday stayed the release of the movie. However, Aashiq seems to be unfazed by the controversy as he reportedly said that he will take “necessary action at the right time.”

“My movie is inspired by real incidents. So how can it be termed as a copy of someone’s story,” Aashiq Abu argued. The shooting of the film is currently in progress in Kozhikode, which was touted as the epicenter of Nipah Virus infection.

Virus is based on actual incidents that happened in the backdrop of the disease outbreak. The film is Aashiq Abu’s most ambitious project as he has put together a set of highly-talented actors for this movie. The all-star cast includes Revathy, Asif Ali, Rima Kallingal, Parvathy TK, Remya Nambissan, Tovino Thomas, Kalidas Jayaram, Soubin Shahir, Dileesh Pothan and Chemban Vinod Jose. The filmmaker has also assembled a solid technical crew, including Muhsin Parari, Suhas and Sharfu, cinematographer Rajeev Ravi, composer Sushin Sam. Virus is expected to hit screens this summer.

Mumbai: Actor Sanjay Dutt has been extremely transparent about the fact that he fell prey to drug abuse during his youth and never held himself from speaking about it at various forums. In a recent interview, the actor came on records to talk about his willingness to be a part of a nation-wide campaign against drug abuse, which is being organized at educational campuses in Chandigarh and Hisar on 18 and 19 of this month respectively.

Designed to eliminate drug addiction and in order to spread knowledge about the inhumane repercussions, the actor is all set to share his past experiences and how it severely impacted his years as a young man. Not only Sanjay Dutt but B-Townies like Sonakshi Sinha, Parineeti Chopra, Badshah, Sonu Nigam, Kapil Sharma, and Varun Sharma are also coming forward to support the change. They will engage with 25000 students on campuses on both the days, to counsel and discourage them from falling prey to such abuse. Joining the bandwagon we have another one crore students across hundreds of other educational institutions in the country, who will also be able to watch this event through a live broadcast. This would be then followed by a road-show including all the celebrities coming on-board.

The blueprint of the idea to eradicate drug abuse goes back to the time when actor Sanjay Dutt was released from Yerwada Jail in 2016. His friends, producer Ajay Arora (Bittoo), lyricist Montoo Bassi and filmmaker Mahavir Jain had an extensive conversation about the growing problem amongst the youth and a year later the idea was run through by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar in Bengaluru to seek a way forward.

Confirming the development the actor said, “I have experienced the menace of drugs first hand. I know the havoc it creates and so this cause is close to my heart. The aim is to make this campaign India’s largest. It’s very easy to get sucked into drug abuse, but very difficult to get out of it. It all starts when minds are young and impressionable. We have to firmly tell youngsters that drug abuse is not cool. That’s why we want to reach out to the youth of this country and spread the word through campuses.” The actor seems to have taken on this as a mission and he signs off saying, “Na karunga na karne doonga.”

Molestation case has been filed against popular dancer and choreographer  Salman Yusuff  Khan on January 30 at the Oshiwara Police Station. The victim, a dancer herself, alleged that Salman, along with his brother, tried to misbehave  with her on two different occasions.

According to the FIR filed, the victim was first approached by the dancer's manager while she was in London for work in August 2018. Later, she met Salman at a coffee shop in Oshiwara, Andheri, where he offered her an opportunity to perform in Bollywood Park, Dubai with him.

The victim claimed that Salman "touched her inappropriately" on the same day when she was offered the opportunity after he offered to drop her home. The FIR filed by the victim further goes on that following the incident, she got a call from the dancer's manager regarding the work and left for Dubai on August 20, along with her dance group.

The victim alleges that, while in Dubai, Salman asked her, on August 30, to accompany him to Bollywood park resort in Bahrain, for another show. As soon as they reached the airport, Salman introduced her to his cousin brother, who, along with Salman, touched her inappropriately on their journey back to Dubai via car on November 3.

The victim alleged that Salman and his team harassed her and her troupe for days after the incident, and even threatened her with dire consequences. He forcefully made them terminate their contracts and on November 10 sent her and her troupe flight tickets back to Mumbai when they refused to move.

These incidents of harassment prompted the victim to file a case against the dancer and his brother. Salman, who rose to fame for his participation in popular reality shows, has also had subsequent stints in Bollywood.

The Film… Stars Ranveer Singh as Kapil Dev, Directed by Kabir Khan, Presented by Reliance Entertainment, Produced by Madhu Mantena, Vishnu Induri and Kabir Khan.”

Producer Madhu Mantena had also expressed his desire about working with Jiiva and told Pinkvilla, "I have been a huge fan of Jiiva since the time I saw one of my favourite films with him called KO. I have always wanted to remake it here in Hindi. It's awesome that finally, I am getting a chance to work with him. I can't think of anyone better to be able to do justice in playing Srikkanth on the big screen".

Jiiva also spoke about the preparation for 83. He said that he has to lose seven kgs and understand the character. Jiiva mentioned, "For this film, instead of training in the gym outdoor excercises are done more, which is also aiding my preparation for 83. I have a personal trainer who is helping me to build my stamina. The workout routine is intense and there is a fair amount of cardiovascular training involved. I'm focusing on getting Srikkanth's  shades and body language on mark. I have started watching his videos online, and those of the ‘83 matches as well."

Interestingly, before the role was going to be offered to Telugu superstar Vijay Devarakonda previously. If Vijay had got the role, it would mark his debut in Bollywood. With Jiiva however, the makers wouldn’t have to work on language since Jiiva is already a Tamil actor.
